How to prepare for exam in a week

I hope you have been updating hard for a few weeks now. You've done a good review and you've been working on it little by little, you feel your confidence growing. But, what should you focus on in the last week before your exams? To be honest, if you have already prepared well the last week will not be so different from all the previous weeks.

Here are the things you should be doing to prepare for your exams one week ago.

Identify your strengths and weaknesses

If you have been following my advice to schedule a review you will be able to see your strengths and weaknesses over the years. At this point, however, it is worthwhile to revisit the list. You will probably find that when you are busy bringing your weaknesses to the forefront, your strengths and weaknesses may change. At this stage you should re-focus your efforts on your remaining weaknesses.

Learn about a deep explosion and take a break

Right now you need to know how much time you can focus on before you take a break. This can be anything from 20 to 60 minutes.

Use the timer to plan your focused study times and your break time (do not get lost in the social media and forget to return to your studies).

Choose a topic for each reading session

Start each lesson knowing what to focus on at the moment. Do not sit idly by and think ‘I have to fix something,’ not knowing what you will learn.

Adjust your test method

I hope you have been doing a lot of paperwork over the past few weeks. If you have not already done so, you will not be able to leave. You will no longer be able to neglect your testing process.

Use hours of energy to help you read content, make past papers and learn to think like an explorer in a focused way.

Get help with anything you still do not understand

Grease your teacher, find a different book in the library or browse it online. It is your responsibility to make sure that you understand every part of the syllabus throughout the lesson.

Get enough sleep

Sleep is an important factor in ensuring that all the good things you do are rooted in your head. While you sleep, a new connection is made in your mind - when you fall asleep you are fooling yourself with the information you have gained during your study periods.

Eat well

Try to eat healthy and light foods - you nourish your body just as much as you feed your mind with knowledge.

Exercise

Scientists are constantly coming up with new evidence that exercise benefits your brain. Only this week I read an article that said that exercise makes your mind bigger. It also gives your brain a break from all that research and releases stress. Put on your trainers and get out in the sun!

Know Logistics

You should already know, but if you do not know, find out when and where all your tests will be. And make sure you are on time.

Relax!

I know that may sound silly but you need to take a break at the end of each day to get a good night's sleep. It also prevents you from feeling like a reviewer.

Follow these tips on how to prepare for your exams with one week to go and when you get to the exam day you will be in a much better position to do your best.
