Virtual world has many elements to develop a student's mind. There are many things he can do to improve his skills, learn more about his interests. There are many such resources on the internet. The student's job is just to find out. But how about assessing how well they've mastered their interests? It is true that our school and college exams are capable of assessing interest. But it is also true that school and college tests cannot assess it effectively. School and college exams help to find subjects of interest. But its adeptness at measuring the skills of those subjects is often questioned. So we need an assessment system where students can assess their mastery of subjects of interest. And that's why it seems the beginning of the Olympiads. There are different Olympiads for different subjects. Their names are also different. One is Maths Olympiad, which assesses students' skills in mathematics. Another one is the Informatics Olympiad, which again deals with programming. There is another one, the Science Olympiad. It assesses students' interest in science. Apart from these, there are many other Olympiads which deal with different subjects. There are many articles discussing why one should participate in these Olympiads. Participating in the Olympiads can undoubtedly help build a better community. You can get new experiences with new people and the value of these experiences is not too little. However, there are many reasons why one should not participate in the Olympiads. They will be discussed in this article.
If there is arrogance in you:
If you have arrogance, you should not participate in the Olympiads. Whether you are at the national level or at the international arena, you should never be arrogant. If you are arrogant, you will continue to think yourself big. Overconfidence will come in you. You will not practice properly because you will think, has anyone here prepared like me? I can do it easily. How can you have this kind of attitude? In fact, those who do well in the Olympiad are also very hardworking in addition to being brilliant. They attack problems like mad dogs. You will definitely not be able to do well if you have such an attitude because of your arrogance.
If trying to please EVERYONE:
Unfortunately, the truth is that people who think A+ is everything in Bangladesh are not too few. There are many people who think that class rolls are too important. No matter how well you do in Olympiads, this class of people will never be happy with you. If you try to please them, chances are, you won't prepare well for the Olympiad. Again, if you prepare well for the Olympiad, there is a high chance that you will not do well in school exams! Needless to say, you have to be incredibly diligent to do that. Although it is said that everything that is in the school and college syllabus and books should be read, whether it appears in the exam or not, it should be read to strengthen the base. Then, if the base is solid, focus should be on problem solving. It is also said that almost anyone can focus on problem solving if they study well till class six. Despite all this, while your dream is to do well in the Olympiad, you are unlikely to do well in the school and college exams focusing on that. And of course, that one type of person will never be happy with you until you can do something to point them in the eye. So if you keep trying to please everyone and don't have the mindset to work hard, it would be wise not to participate in your Olympiad.
When comparing yourself to others:
This is a very bad habit. Because you participated in the Olympiad to beat others. It will show that when others are not doing better than you, you will stop working. And when others do better than you, you must want to do better than them. But you cannot prepare well by yourself. Because, instead of paying attention to your own preparation, you will continue to smoke other people's cows, which means you will continue to inquire more about what others have done. And you may know that you can never do well without proper preparation. Therefore, whether someone does better than you or not, you can never do better than yourself if you dive into that. So, if you have such an attitude you should not participate in any Olympiad.
If you randomly participate by being influenced by the words of others:
No one can do good anywhere if they don't have self interest. Be it at the Olympiads, or anywhere else. You may have heard that in the Math Olympiad this happens, that happens... and after hearing so many of these you participate in the Math Olympiad where you don't like doing maths, you don't like thinking about maths. If this is the case, it can be said with closed eyes that you should not participate in the Math Olympiad. The same applies to other Olympiads.
If the attitude of adherence is lacking:
To do well in Olympiad, you have to work hard, practice a lot. You have to solve new problems. In one word, you have to practice very well. But if you practise today and leave it tomorrow, sit down and keep thinking about what to do, you can be sure that nothing will happen.
If you look at the goal without looking at the system :
This is a very weird topic. Because, it needs to explain the system and goals. A system is the process that will bring you results. And the goal is the result you want to get. If you want to go to international level in an Olympiad, then your goal is to go to international level and what you are doing for that (studying + problem solving + ...) is your system. It is better to say that focusing on the goal means working together with the body and soul to achieve the goal. And focusing on the system means deciding what needs to be done to achieve the goal, or in a broader sense, working to get things done. If you don't work hard, your chances of success are too low. You may have a target that you will go to the national level in such an Olympiad. You are preparing for this. But you see, if you go to the national level, Can you go to the international level? Chances are very less because you have taken preparation only for the national level. But if you look into the system, you probably can. I'm not saying that you must, I'm only talking about a great possibility of being able to. If you look at the goal, your happiness will decrease a lot. Because there is a nagging feeling that you must reach that stage. Contentment will not work for you until you reach that stage. But if you look at the system, you can be happy anytime. because, Then you don't have to do much to be happy. If you look at goals, you won't be happy before going to the national level. And if you focus on the system, you can only be happy if you can solve a problem. But the most important question is that if you look at the system instead of the goal, will success come? The answer is a bit difficult. Because when you focus on what you are doing, success will come if you work harder. And less may not come. So there is no need for goals? In fact, it is not like that, goals are definitely needed. But the key is about focus. where are you focusing? It plays a big role. In fact, the goals of a winner and a loser are the same. But they differ from each other as their systems are different. If your focus is on winning the gold medal in Math Olympiad, there is a very good chance that after winning gold in Math Olympiad you won't pay as much attention to do maths as before. And if your focus is on the system, that is, how many problems you have solved, how much you study, how you spend your day, etc., then even if you do not get gold in Math Olympiad, you will be interested in working with Math in every field of life. One reason is that you can be happy after solving each problem, and because of this happiness, you become more interested! But if you work with the hope of winning a gold medal in the Math Olympiad, you won't get that much interest because you won't be satisfied until you get the gold. Look at the system to get as much. In fact, after setting the goal, the instructions to fix the system properly are nothing but asking to look at the system. Looking at the system doesn't mean working without any goal, looking at the system means focusing on the process by specifying what needs to be done for the goal. Even so, this is a very weak reason to discourage anyone from participating in the Olympiad. But if any of the above 5 points are true for you, then this point should be taken as something big.
At the end of the day, no one can share your integrity, ideals and good deeds. If you have talent, no one can steal it. Just because you can't participate in the Olympiad or do well, doesn't mean you don't have talent. No such competition is seen on literature yet. If you are interested in literature, if you can write well, are you not talented? 85% of success depends on your behavior, and the remaining 15% depends on education. No matter what position you occupy in the Olympiad, you must be unassuming, pure. Only then will you be authentic.
